This SAE Standard provides the minimum requirements for high power two conductor jumper cable plug and receptacle for truck-trailer jumper cable systems. It includes the test procedures, design, and performance requirements. This document covers receptacles rated at more than 30A (Ampere) up to and including 150A and is intended for a single circuit with one power conductor and one common return conductor. Single conductor high current connectors are not recommended for future designs because of inadequate ground return through 5th wheel / king pin. Cable size selection is to be made by the vehicle OEM for specific applications and the specific voltage drop requirements of those applications. This SAE Standard covers two variants of high power two conductor connections: a heavy duty version with horizontally aligned pins, typically for lift-gate battery charging and a medium duty version with vertically aligned pins: typically for loads such as power tarpaulins.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the test procedure, environment and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.

The purpose of this report is to provide design, application and maintenance engineers with basic information on the use of metallic Spring Energized sealing devices when used as piston (OD) and rod (ID) seals in aircraft fluid power components such as actuators, valves, and swivel glands. The Spring Energized seal is defined and the basic types in current use are described. Guidelines for selecting the type of Spring Energized seal for a given design requirement are covered in terms of friction, leakage, service life, installation characteristics, and interchangeability. Spring Energized seals can also be made in various forms and types, including face seals (internal and external pressure sealing types), and rotary variants too. These further types will not be discussed in this document, but many of the same principles apply for them as well.

SAE J1939-03 provides requirements and guidelines for the implementation of On Board Diagnostics (OBD) on heavy-duty vehicles (HDV) using the SAE J1939 family of standards. The guidelines identify where the necessary information to meet OBD regulations may be found among the SAE J1939 document set. Key requirements are identified here to insure the interoperability of OBD scan tools across individual OBD compliant vehicles. Market-defined regulations permit the use of SAE J1939 to meet OBD requirements. Implementers are cautioned to obtain and review the specific regulations for the markets where their products are sold. This document is focused on guidelines and requirements to satisfy the State of California Air Resources Board (ARB), the authors of 13 CCR 1971.1, United States Environmental Protection Agency, Euro IV and V requirements from European Commission directives, and UN/ECE WP 29 GRPE WWH OBD Global Technical Regulation (GTR).

SAE J1939-75 Generator Sets and Industrial Applications defines the set of data parameters (SPNs) and messages (PGNs) for information predominantly associated with monitoring and control generators and driven equipment in electric power generation and industrial applications. The data parameters (SPNs) and messages (PGNs) previously published within this document are now published in SAE J1939DA. Applications using the SAE J1939-75 document may need to reference SAE J1939DA for the SAE J1939 parameters and messages for monitoring and controlling the power units, e.g., engines and turbines, that power the generators and driven industrial equipment.

J2188_201510
This SAE Recommended Practice takes into account modern standardized methods for collecting and summarizing data that has an effect on vehicle steady-state performance, such as engine output (gross and net), transmission losses, drivetrain efficiency, vehicle aerodynamic devices for various vehicle and body configurations, as well as road surface variations and air density variations resulting from altitude and barometric effects. The procedure does not address vehicle transient performance (acceleration, braking, and cornering), because of the considerable amount of additional data required such as moment of inertia of all the rotating parts. Nor does it address vehicles with torque converters and automatic transmissions. This document is, therefore, intended for vehicles having fixed-ratio type transmissions and positive engagement clutches. Metric and ISO unit conversions are provided in the metric conversion tables at the end of this procedure (see Appendix B).
