A new bearing design made it possible to significantly increase the output bearing strength, leading to enhanced rigidity during off-highway operation. The transmission is for mixer trucks with up to a 10-m3 (13-yd3) drum capacity and output torque of approximately 62,000 N·m (45,700 lb·ft).

Set for North American launch in 2008, Daimler’s new 14.8-L DD15 diesel introduces a turbo compound system that delivers up to 50 hp (37 kW) to the engine’s flywheel with no fuel penalty, and a hydraulically amplified common-rail fuel system that can deliver up to five injection events per combustion cycle. The four-engine family will share parts and some modules, with alternate versions to satisfy local regulations in Europe and Japan.
