This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a single bolt pattern for the No. 1 clutch housing (see Figure 1) and the No. 2 clutch housing (see Figure 2). These four bolt patterns are designated to give commonality of mounting brackets in existing frame rails. The 420 mm (16.5 in) span, pad face to pad face, allows the ease of installation in existing frame rail widths. This is also the minimum spacing which will accommodate commonly used clutches.

This document applies primarily to mobile cranes that lift loads by means of a drum and hoist line mechanism. It can be used to determine the hoist line speed and power of other hoist line mechanisms, if the load can be held constant and hoist line travel distance is sufficient for the accuracy of the line speed measurements prescribed. This recommended practice applies to all mechanical, hydraulic, and electric powered hoist mechanisms.

The following list consists of hose data provided as of December 2016, and is for convenience in determining acceptability of nonmetallic flexible hose assemblies intended for usage under 46 CFR 56.60-25. Where the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) or type of fitting is not specified, use the manufacturer's recommended MAWP or type of fitting. This list has been compiled by SAE Staff from information provided by the manufacturers whose product listings appear in this document. Manufacturers wishing to list their products in this document shall: Successfully test their hose to the requirements of SAE J1942, Table 1. Submit a letter of certification to the SAE J1942 test requirements for each specific type of hose tested (see sample table on page 4) along with the test results. All sizes should be included in the same letter which must also include all of the information necessary to make a SAE J1942-1 listing.

This SAE Recommended Practice defines a clearance line for establishing dimensional compatibility between drum brakes and wheels with 19.5 inch, 22.5 inch, and 24.5 inch diameter rims. Wheels designed for use with drum brakes may not be suitable for disc brake applications. The lines provided establish the maximum envelope for brakes, including all clearances, and minimum envelope for complete wheels to allow for interchangeability. This document addresses the dimensional characteristics only, and makes no reference to the performance, operational dynamic deflections, or heat dissipation of the system. Valve clearances have not been included in the fitment lines. Bent valves may be required to clear brake drums. Disc brake applications may require additional running clearances beyond those provided by the minimum contour lines. Mounting systems as noted are referenced in SAE J694.
