ARP4087D
This SAE Aerospace Recommend Practice (ARP) is intended to cover the external lights on fixed wing aircraft for illuminating the wing leading edge and engine nacelles and the upper surfaces of the wing. The addition of an ice detection system should be implemented when the areas to inspect are not visible from the aircraft cockpit. It is not intended that this Recommended Practice require the use of any particular light source such as Halogen, LED or other specific design of lamp.

This SAE Standard covers the physical and performance requirements for electrodeposited copper, nickel, and chromium deposits on exterior ornamentation fabricated from die cast zinc alloys (SAE J468 alloys 903 and 925), and on wrought zinc strip (ASTM B 69). This type of coating is designed to provide a high degree of corrosion resistance for automotive, truck, marine, and farm usage where a bright, decorative finish is desired.

This SAE standard establishes the minimum construction and performance requirements for seven conductor 1/8 2/10 4/12 cable for use on trucks, trailers and converter dollies. Where appropriate, the standard refers to two types of cables, (Type F and S, described later in the standard), due to the variation in the performance demands of cables used in flexing and stationary applications. While the document’s title refers to ABS Power to differentiate the document from the SAE J1067 standard that it supersedes, the scope applies to both the primary green cable for powering ABS and lighting and the yellow auxiliary cable of the same construction.

The purpose of this specification is to provide airplane operators and tow vehicle manufacturers with: General design and operating requirements pertinent to test and evaluation of towbarless tow vehicles. Specific design requirements are provided in ARP4852 and ARP4853. Test and evaluation requirements. The results of these test evaluations will determine if the loads induced by the tow vehicle will exceed the design loads of the nose gear, or are within the aircraft manufacturer’s limits so that they do not affect the certified safe limit of the nose gear. The results of these test evaluations will also determine if a stability problem may occur during pushback and/or maintenance towing operations with the tested airplane/tow vehicle combination. This document specifies general test requirements and a test evaluation procedure for towbarless tow vehicles (TLTV) intended for pushback and maintenance towing only.

This SAE Recommended Practice specifies an intrusion resistance test method for glazing systems installed in motor vehicles. Intrusion resistance performance is determined not solely by the glazing but also by the glazing attachment to the vehicle and by the vehicle structure. Therefore, the glazing/ attachment/vehicle structure must be tested as a single unit. This test determines intrusion resistance only. The test applies to those materials that meet the requirements for use as safety glazing materials as specified in Safety Standard ANSI/SAE Z26.1 or other applicable standards. The test applies to all installation locations.

This SAE Recommended Practice provides test procedures, requirements, and equipment recommendations for the methods of the measurement that characterizes potential design failures by utilizing a step stress approach to subject a device under test to thermal, vibration, and electrical stresses of types and levels beyond what it may see in actual use, but which will rapidly induce failure modes, allowing them to be detected and corrected.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers the functional, design, construction, and test requirements for Brake Temperature Monitoring Systems (BTMS), and sometimes referred to as Brake Temperature Indication Systems (BTIS). The BTMS is limited to aircraft where a dispatch indication and brake temperature indication is required. The scope of this BTMS equipment shall be limited to the 1) brake temperature sensor or indicator, 2) temperature reference measurement, if required, and 3) processing and communication of brake temperature. This recommended practice will not address cockpit ergonomics and aircraft operating procedures.
